President Mary Sue Coleman speaks to U-M retirees and alumni at University Commons about the future of the University as she delivers the fifth annual Asa Gray Lecture, which honors the first faculty member at U-M. Coleman’s Sept. 24 talk, “The Challenges of Keeping U-M at the Forefront of Higher Education in the 21st Century,” focused on maintaining the University’s academic excellence through strong faculty and student recruiting, as well as increased private support.
