Randy Tessier, a lecturer in LSA and unit chair for the Lecturer’s Employee Organization, performs with the band FUBAR at the LEO informational rally Thursday in Regents Plaza. In February LEO filed a formal grievance against the university over the 2 percent salary increase Ann Arbor campus union members received in September 2008, saying the raise violated the collective bargaining agreement. LEO wants U-M to issue an additional 2.1 percent increase retroactively to the 900 affected LEO members on the Ann Arbor campus. The university says the raise was consistent with the language of the contract that expires in May 2010. The current grievance is moving through a three-step process that culminates in binding arbitration. On Wednesday the union asked the university to move the process into the arbitration phase.
