Photo: Johnson award

Marga Schuhwerk-Hampel, center, receives the 2007 Candace J. Johnson Award for Excellence from Provost Teresa Sullivan. Schuhwerk-Hampel, a student administration assistant senior in Germanic Languages and Literature at LSA, was honored during a Dec. 19 ceremony in the Michigan League. She was nominated by Helmut Puff, left, Richard Hudson Research Professor of History, associate professor and acting chair, Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures, and associate professor of history. The award was established to recognize staff members who demonstrate commitment, excellence and dedication in their work. It honors Johnson, who was employed in the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs at the time of her death in 2003. (Photo by Scott Galvin, U-M Photo Services)
