U-M Museum of Art Projects: Lisa Anne Auerbach, is an exhibit which features Auerbach’s subversive brand of post-punk aesthetics. The artist joins art, politics and humor with a critique of the complacency and routine of modern life. Her recent projects have addressed topics ranging from the Iraq war to the politics of bicycling in a city of freeways. In her slogan-adorned sweater sets, each outfit becomes a wearable canvas, weaving together the personal and the political, the aesthetic and the everyday. Appropriating strategies of presentation and display from the high-end clothing market, this installation encourages viewers to ask questions.
