An elevator mechanic working at the Stephen M. Ross School of Business new construction project was killed Aug. 4 after falling from the fifth level to the basement through the service elevator shaft.
David Jeffery Smith, who worked for Schindler Elevator, was 31 years old and from the Grass Lake-Jackson area.
The project temporarily was shut down pending further investigations by police and the state regulators.
