Upcoming changes to the M-Pathways Student Administration and Human Resource Management systems that include improved navigation and a user-friendly design are part of a June 9 system upgrade that will impact all faculty members and students, as well as many staff.
The Teaching Support section now will be called “Faculty Business” and includes a new Faculty Center page with an at-a-glance view of the instructor’s teaching schedule, enrollment numbers and class dates, in addition to a new look and enhanced search functions. A link to the Faculty Business section will appear on the Wolverine Access home page, and will remain accessible through CTools.
The retooled Student Business layout includes an improved overview into a wide range of student details combined with quick links to key information. Instead of clicking on “View Account Summary” to see current amount due and/or past due notices, students now can open the new Student Center page and immediately see the Account Summary and other information.
A new Student Services Center page also is included in this upgrade, and will help student-advising staff across the University improve service to students. The system upgrade will introduce new features enabling advisors and students to better understand, prior to enrollment, if the selected classes will meet the student’s academic requirements.
All staff across campus interacting with the M-Pathways Student Administration and Human Resource Management Systems will see changes in the June upgrade. For example, electronic timekeeping managers and staff who enter their own time will notice time reports for exempt employees displaying the entire month instead of displaying a two-week timeframe.
“It has been confusing at times — not being able to see the whole picture. It makes much more sense to be able to see the whole month, rather than just two weeks,” says Lisa Gubaci, assistant director of the Center for Human Growth and Development. “This is a huge improvement and huge time saver. When you have a lot of employees, all those extra clicks add up — now, we’ll be able to get the time reports and approvals done faster.”
M-Pathways Student Administration and Human Resource Management Systems will be unavailable from 5 p.m. June 5 to 7 a.m. June 9 while the system is upgraded. (The U-M Data Warehouse and the Operational Data Store, both read-only reporting environments, will be available during the upgrade weekend.)
