Panel addresses sustainable urban transportation
U-M researchers and industry executives from around the world are scheduled to address New Mobility Means Business in a panel discussion on emerging markets in sustainable urban transportation.
The panel is scheduled for 6:30-8:30 p.m. June 11 at the Rackham Building. Topics for discussion include the future of the global new mobility industry.
Sue Cischke, vice president for safety and sustainability, Ford Motor Co., will deliver the keynote address. Panelists are Ford executive chairman William Clay Ford Jr., Cisco Systems managing partner Val Stoyanov, Royal Dutch/Shell vice president Niel Golightly, Cherokee vice president Paul Morris, GoLoco CEO and founder of Zipcar Robin Chase, and Mapunity India CEO Ashwin Mahesh.

Conference focuses on undergrad science
The Science Learning Center (SLC) is hosting the third and final installment of its Enriching the Academic Experience of College Science Students Conference for faculty and staff who work with undergraduate science students beyond the classroom.
This national conference, June 2-5 at the Michigan League, will feature 50 concurrent sessions that address a diverse range of topics, including the recruitment and retention of underrepresented groups in the sciences, collaborative learning, undergraduate research opportunities, technology in the science classroom and science advising.
Dr. Freeman Hrabowski, president of the University of Maryland and one of the original founders of the Meyerhoff Scholars Program for high-achieving minority students in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields, will deliver the keynote address.
“We’re excited to bring together professionals from the many learning centers, departments, and programs around the country dedicated to fostering undergraduates’ achievement and success in the sciences,” says Claire Sandler, SLC director.
