The University Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Choir, Orpheus Singers and University Choir will wrap up the season with a joint concert at 8 p.m. Tuesday in Hill Auditorium.
There will be a pre-concert lecture by members of Enharmonia in the lower lobby at 7:15 p.m., followed by the concert conducted by Kenneth Kiesler, professor of conducting and director of orchestras.
The program will include Mahler’s Second Symphony featuring soprano Carmen Pelton and mezzo-soprano Melody Racine.
Trio plays vintage swing at University Hospital
The Royal Garden Trio plays swing music reminiscent of the 1930’s, but with an ear toward the future of improvisational jazz, in a free 12:10 p.m. performance April 30 at the University Hospital first floor Main Lobby.
The group — Brian Delaney on guitar, Tom Bogardus on tenor guitar and clarinet, and Mike Karoub on cello — has been called synergetic. Blending the sound of a Parisian cafe with the American nightclub, they seek to be fresh, original and sophisticated without being exotic.
The group’s repertoire includes traditional jazz, classic show tunes and gypsy swing.
The performance is part of a series of live shows presented by the U-M Health System Gifts of Art.
