The Music of Argentina benefit concert featuring Michael Gould, associate professor of music, performing as part of the Alberto Rojo Trio, happens at 8 p.m. April 18 at the Kerrytown Concert House.
The Alberto Rojo Trio focuses on both traditional Argentinean folk songs and styles along with new compositions and arrangements. These include styles such as the tango and chacarrera, as well as jazz standards that have been arranged with a South American flair.
The concert is in support the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Student Group. This support group is led by Dr. Ellen Zimmerman, director of the UMHS IBD Specialty Clinic, for students of U-M and surrounding colleges that have either Crohn’s disease or colitis.
The concert is to raise awareness in the community of IBD, and to support area students coping with IBD through their educational endeavors.
