Don’t miss: Bert’s Cafe celebrates with specials and more

A week of festivities is planned to celebrate the first year of operations for Bert’s Cafe in the Shapiro Library.

During the week of Feb. 16 there will be sample tastings, drink and food specials, a raffle and more. The official celebration ceremony happens at 2 p.m. Feb. 18 with brief remarks and cake. Students, faculty members and staff are invited.

Each day of the anniversary week will highlight a different cafe item and tastings will be offered at various times. Burrito Joint and Great Harvest Bread Company are two of the companies that will be on hand to share free samples.

Signature drink specials will include Bert’s Fruit Punch and special lattes. Bert’s will raffle off items throughout the week including Frisbees, free specialty drinks and Bert’s mugs.

Made possible through the generosity of Bertram “Bert” Askwith (LSA ’31) and operated by University Unions, Bert’s Cafe is a place for students to converse, study and relax while enjoying a cup of coffee or treat without having to leave the library. The cafe is open from 7:30 a.m.-1 a.m. Monday-Thursday, 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday and noon-1 a.m. Sunday. Blue Bucks are accepted.
