Each year, Gifts of Art presents an exhibition of artwork by U-M Health System faculty, staff, students, volunteers and family members. It showcases the talent, creativity and accomplishments of artists in the UMHS community.

“Les Miserables” by Emily Slomovits was the 2013 winner of the People’s Choice Award at the U-M Health System Employee Art Exhibition.

The Employee Art Exhibition is presented Aug. 18-Oct. 6 in the Gifts of Art Gallery, Taubman Health Center South Lobby, Floor 1, 1500 E. Medical Center Drive. An Artist Reception & Awards Ceremony will be presented from 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Gifts of Art Gallery. The event will be hosted by Paul A. King, executive director, C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital.

The art juror is Natsu Oyobe, associate curator of Asian art, U-M Museum of Art. There are ribbon awards for Best in Category and Best in Show. King will announce winning artists chosen by Oyobe. Also, a People’s Choice award will be determined by votes of visitors to the exhibit, who vote using the ballots provided at the exhibit site.
