Services
Facilities and Operations staff maintain reduced staffing through the holidays to address any emergency situations. During the holidays call:
• 763-1131 (or 911 from a campus phone) to reach the Department of Public Safety for crimes or safety concerns or to request spill response.
• 647-2059 to reach the Plant Operations Call Center for maintenance requests including custodial, grounds and parking maintenance.
• Regular custodial services will conclude Dec. 24. Upon request, limited custodial services dedicated to common area and restroom cleaning will be provided Dec. 26 and 29-31. E-mail custodial service requests to the Plant Operations Call Center at [email protected] as soon as possible.
• Waste collections for radioactive waste, chemical waste and medical/pathological waste will be conducted through Dec. 24 and resume Jan. 5. Call 763-4568 before Dec. 19 to request special pick-ups. Waste collections for trash and recyclables will be monitored during season days and will occur on an as-needed basis. Call the Plant Operations Call Center at 647-2059 with additional needs.
• Contact Occupational Safety and Environmental Health at 764-4420 before Dec. 19 for approval of radioactive material deliveries on Dec. 26, 29-31 and Jan. 2. Deliveries may be scheduled if lab staff are available to receive and secure packages.
• The Key Office will close to walk-in service at 3:45 p.m. Dec. 24. The office will re-open Jan. 5. Call the Plant Operations Call Center at 647-2059 for emergencies.
Information Technology Central Services (ITCS)
Most ITCS offices will follow the University schedule for the holidays, closing at 5 p.m. Dec. 24 and reopening Jan. 2. Report critical service outages to 764-HELP.
• University operators are available at 764-1817 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 24 and from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 26 and Dec. 29-31. Normal hours of 8 a.m.-5 p.m. resume Jan. 2. A 24-hour automated system at 615-2244 is available to provide staff, student and faculty phone numbers.
• 4-HELP Consulting will be closed from noon Dec. 24-8 a.m. Jan. 2; assistance will be available via e-mail. Messages should be sent to [email protected].
• ITCS Accounts Office is closed from noon Dec. 24-8 a.m. Jan. 2; limited assistance will be available via e-mail Dec. 26 and Dec. 29-31. Messages should be sent to [email protected].
• The Campus Computing Sites: Angell Hall Computing Site will be closed from 11:30 p.m. Dec. 21-7:30 a.m. Jan. 5. The School of Education building will be closed from 9 p.m. Dec. 19-7:30 a.m. Jan. 5. Holiday hours for other Campus Computing Sites can be found at www.umich.edu/~sites/hours.
• U-M Computer Showcase at the Michigan Union is closed from 4 p.m. Dec. 24-9 a.m. Jan. 2. The Pierpont Commons site is open from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 22-24 and closed Dec. 25-9:30 a.m. Jan. 5.
• Computer repair and consulting services will follow the Computer Showcase (Michigan Union) schedule. Repairs dropped off the week of Dec. 15-19 may not be completed prior to closing on Dec. 24. No repairs will be accepted between Dec. 22-Jan. 2; consultants will be in the Computer Showcase for pick-ups on Dec. 22-24 and Jan. 2. Repairs may be adversely affected by high demand on delivery services resulting in possible delays in shipping of replacement parts during December.
• The ITCom Customer Service Center is closed from noon Dec. 24-8 a.m. Jan. 2. Emergency voice, data or video repair requests during that period should be reported to 647-8888. Select emergency option, then select voice, video or data and an operator will take information and dispatch technicians as appropriate. For non-emergency voice, data or video repair requests call 647-8888. Select the non-emergency option, then select voice, video or data and leave a message as instructed. These requests will be handled beginning Jan. 2. Any changes to this schedule will be posted at www.itcs.umich.edu.
Michigan Union
Holiday building hours are 7 a.m.-11 p.m. Dec. 19, 7 a.m.-1 a.m. Dec. 20, 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Dec. 21, 7 a.m.-9 p.m. Dec. 22-23, and 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Dec. 24, and closed Dec. 25-28. The building will be open 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Dec. 29-31, ground floor only, and will be closed Jan. 1. Barnes and Noble, Pizza Hut and STA Travel will be open Dec. 29-31. The building reopens from 7 a.m.-9 p.m. Jan. 2 and 3, and is open from 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Jan. 4, 7 a.m.-10 p.m. Jan. 5 and 7 a.m.-2 a.m. Jan. 6.
Dec. 12 is the deadline for units to submit requests to University Mail Services (UMS) for United States Postal Service (USPS) mail delivery or metering Dec. 26-31, via e-mail or in writing. Let UMS know if pickup and delivery service will not be required on Dec. 24. Questions can be directed to 764-9227. Standard permit mail to be processed and mailed before the holiday break must be at UMS by 5 p.m. Dec. 24. Mail must be dropped off at UMS by noon in order to be postmarked before Dec. 25. USPS will be open Dec. 26-31 and Jan. 2 (U-M season days) but will not provide service to University buildings unless advance written requests are received at UMS, closed on season days. Michigan Administrative Information Services (MAIS)
The MAIS offices, including the MAIS Help Desk and IT Security Services will close at 3 p.m. Dec. 24 and re-open at 8 a.m. Jan. 5.
IT Security Services (ITSS)

MLibrary
Check online for up-to-date hours for all of the University libraries at www.lib.umich.edu/hours/. The libraries will be closed Dec. 24, 25, 31 and Jan.1. Hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Shapiro and 1-5 p.m. Dec. 26-27 at Hatcher. Hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Dec. 28 at the Shapiro (Hatcher is closed), 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Dec. 29-30 at the Shapiro and 1-5 p.m. at Hatcher. Jan. 2-3 hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Shapiro and 1-5 p.m. at Hatcher.
University Payroll Office
The HR/Payroll Service Center will close at 3 p.m. Dec. 24 and will re-open at 8 a.m. Jan. 2. Before closing, service center representatives can be reached at 615-2000 or by e-mail at [email protected]. Messages received during closing will be answered Jan. 2.
Museums
The Exhibit Museum of Natural History will be closed Dec. 24-26, 31 and Jan. 1.
UMMA/Off Site will close at 5 p.m. Dec. 24 and 31 and will be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. It will open the rest of the holidays at regular hours.
U-M Health System
Employee Health Service for UMHS employees is closed Dec. 25-Jan. 1, and open 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Jan. 2. For a work-related injury or illness, report to the emergency room. For a body substance exposure, page 936-6266, ext. 5356. Faculty and staff should not go to the emergency room for a tuberculosis skin test or immunizations and wait instead until Jan. 2 for those services.

U-M Hospital Contracts and Procurement is closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 and open 9 a.m-3 p.m. Dec 26, 29, 30 and Jan. 2; and 8 a.m.-noon Dec. 31.
The college building and administrative offices will be closed Dec. 25-Jan. 4.
Procurement Services
• OfficeMax Product Delivery will be closed Dec. 25-Jan. 1. For emergency UPS deliveries of products, contact OfficeMax customer service at (800) 817-8136, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
• Procurement is closed Dec. 25-Jan. 1. During that period, purchase orders will be available online as usual through the M-Pathways system or purchases can be made with a P-Card. For emergency assistance, call 647-4147 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Normal business hours resume Jan. 2.
• Mail Services is closed Dec. 25-Jan. 1.
• Copy Centers at Printing Services, North Ingalls Building and Legal Research are closed Dec. 25-Jan. 1.
• Printing Services is closed Dec. 25-Jan. 1.
• Fulfillment and Storage is closed Dec. 25-Jan. 1.
Transportation
• All regular campus bus and UMHS shuttle service will run through Dec. 19. Service to Northwood Dec. 20-24 and Jan. 2-4 will be on 20-minute intervals with some service gaps. Service on Dec. 24 will end with the 6:20 p.m. outbound from Central Campus. Service on Dec. 26-31 will be on 40-minute intervals. Check www.pts.umich.edu for timetables. Service to Bursley-Baits will stop at the end of the service day Dec. 19 and resume Jan. 5. Regular commuter service will end with the 6 p.m. buses Dec. 24. Regular service will resume on Jan. 2. UMHS shuttles will run full service days through Dec. 24 and will resume Jan. 2. There will be no U-M bus or shuttle service on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. A special Mitchell Express shuttle will use large buses, for greater passenger capacity, to provide service between Lot M75 and the Medical Center on Dec. 26 and Dec. 29-31. It will run every 20 minutes between 6:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. It will not serve the Wall Street stops or the North Ingalls Building.
Ann Arbor Transportation Authority (AATA)
The AATA will not operate regular fixed-route bus service, A-Ride or senior shared-ride services on Dec. 25 or Jan. 1. On Dec. 24 and 31, the last trips of the evening are from the Blake Transit Center beginning at 6:45 p.m. Weekday service will be reduced Dec. 24 and 26, 29-31, and Jan. 2: Route 18 will only operate every half hour from 9:19 a.m.-3:49 p.m. between the Miller Road Park and Ride Lot and the Blake Transit Center; Route 36 service from Wolverine Tower will be reduced to service every 30 minutes at 15 and 45 minutes past the hour; LINK service from Oxford Housing will be reduced to every 30 minutes at 27 and 57 minutes past the hour, beginning at 6:57 a.m. and ending at 6:57 p.m. at Oxford; On Routes 4A and 4B, the only trips that will operate are those leaving the Blake Transit Center at 18 and 48 minutes past the hour and the Ypsilanti Transit Center on the hour and half hour; Service will not operate on Routes 4C or 4D trips. Routes 4A and 4B will pull into U-M Hospital, Arborland and the Medford/Manchester stop. There will be no service on Routes 1U or 2X. Passengers can use Holiday Ride shared-ride service on each holiday, or Night Ride shared-ride service, which begins early, at 7 p.m., on Christmas and New Year’s eves (only in Ann Arbor) at $5 per person. Seniors and persons with disabilities with an AATA Senior or ADA identification card may ride for $2.50. To schedule a Holiday Ride or Night Ride trip call (734) 528-5432. Parking enforcement will be suspended for permits and meter fees in all U-M parking areas except the Simpson Circle (Mott) Structure, North Entrance (Cancer Center) Structure and Cardiovascular Center (CVC) Structure from noon Dec. 24-6 a.m. Jan. 5. This policy does not extend to City of Ann Arbor parking areas. Orange Lots M75 and NC78 will be available for parking with shuttle service provided every 20 minutes from 6:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. from M75 to the Medical Center Dec. 26 and Dec. 29-31. Since there is no evening or weekend shuttle service, Medical Center afternoon and midnight shift staff with Yellow or Orange permits who cannot be accommodated by the special Mitchell Express shuttle service will be allowed to park at the Taubman Structure (Parking A) Dec. 25 – Jan. 1. Enter via Lanes 9 or 10 and exit through Lanes 13 or 14. To minimize the impact on patient parking, staff should park in the south annex. The Simpson Circle (Mott) Structure will be closed 5 p.m. Dec. 26 until 6 a.m. Dec. 29 for the placement of a cooling tower on the roof. All blue AVI permit parkers who normally use that structure on weekends will be allowed to park in the Taubman (M18) Structure during that period. Enter via Lanes 9 or 10 and exit through Lanes 13 or 14. Staff should park in the south annex.
Patient and visitor parking at the Taubman Parking Structure (Parking A), Cancer Center Parking Structure (Parking B) and CVC Parking Structure (Parking C) will continue normal operations throughout the holiday season, except Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 when parking will be free. Patient and visitor parking at the Fletcher and Palmer structures will be closed Dec. 25-Jan. 4.
Fleet Services will close at 5 p.m. Dec. 24 and reopen at 6:30 a.m. Jan. 5. Vehicles to be rented over this period will need to be picked up prior to closing. The office telephone, 764-3427, will be forwarded to an informational voice recording. The garage will close at 5 p.m. Dec. 24 and reopen at 7 a.m. Jan. 5. For vehicle emergencies when the garage is closed, call the Department of Public Safety at 763-1131. A garage supervisor will return calls.
The Service Station at Baxter Road will remain in service throughout the period. The Kipke site will be accessible on a limited basis, as the gates for lot SC10 will be closed during non-operational hours.
Energy Reduction
Faculty and staff are asked to help conserve utility consumption and help make a positive impact on the environment and University budgets.
Provide Building Automation Services (BAS) with schedule information at [email protected], by FAX at 936-3942 or by phone at 763-4013 if ventilation must be turned on due to special events or circumstances in offices, classrooms and other areas that will be used over the holiday period from 5 p.m. Dec. 24 to midnight Jan. 4. Animal rooms and research areas with fume hoods or special ventilation requirements will not see any reduction. Close fume hoods and where available switch them to “low” or “unoccupied.” Turn off all unused office equipment such as computers, monitors, printers, fans, coffee pots and task lighting. Unplug chargers for cell phones and personal digital assistants. Close windows to prevent water pipes and sprinkler heads from freezing and to save energy.
Safety
• Remind staff, faculty and student colleagues to close and lock all windows and doors, secure valuables, lock desks and closets, and double-check that all chemicals are properly capped and research operations properly secured while unattended.
• Building facilities managers should e-mail building hours to the Department of Public Services (DPS) as soon as possible at [email protected] so DPS staff is informed and more appropriately can respond to incidents that may occur.
