Services
Facilities and Operations staff will maintain reduced staffing through the holidays to address any emergency situations. During the holidays call:
• 763-1131 (or 911 from a campus phone) to reach the Department of Public Safety for crimes or safety concerns or request spill response.
• 647-2059 to reach the Plant Operations Call Center for maintenance requests including custodial, grounds and parking maintenance.
• Regular custodial services will conclude Dec. 23. Upon request, limited custodial services dedicated to common area and restroom cleaning will be provided Dec. 24, 26-28 and 31. E-mail custodial service requests to the Plant Operations Call Center ([email protected]) as soon as possible.
• Collections for radioactive, chemical and medical/pathological waste will be conducted through Dec. 21 and resume Jan. 2. Call 763-4568 before Dec. 14 to request special pick-ups.
• Waste collections for trash and recyclables will be monitored during the season days and will occur on an as-needed basis. Call the Plant Operations Call Center at 647-2059 if there are additional needs.
• Contact Occupational Safety and Environmental Health at 764-4420 before Dec. 14 for approval of radioactive material deliveries on Dec. 24, 26-28 and 31. Deliveries may be scheduled if lab staff are available to receive the packages and properly secure them.
The Key Office will close to walk-in service at 3:45 p.m. Dec. 21. The office will re-open Jan. 2 Call the Plant Operations Call Center at 647-2059 for emergencies.
Building Automation Services (BAS)
Ventilation in most campus buildings will be reduced during the holidays to save energy. Those whose areas will be staffed fully during the Dec. 22-Jan. 2 period should contact BAS with work schedules by Dec. 15 so ventilation can be maintained during the holidays. Animal research and other critical facilities that normally require 24-hour ventilation will not undergo reductions during this period. Heat will not be turned off in any buildings. Reductions pertain to ventilation only. Remember to close windows to prevent pipe freeze-ups and subsequent flooding. Information Technology Central Services (ITCS)
ITCS offices will follow the University schedule for the holidays, closing at 5 p.m. Dec. 24 and reopening Jan. 2. The following exceptions to the standard holiday schedule have been reported:
• University Operators are available at 764-1817 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 24 and from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 26-28 and Dec. 31. Normal hours of 8 a.m.-5 p.m. resume on Jan. 2. A 24-hour automated system at 615-2244 always is available to provide staff, student and faculty phone numbers.
• 4-HELP Consulting will be closed from noon Dec. 24- 8 a.m. Jan. 2; consulting assistance will be available via e-mail during this period. Messages should be sent to [email protected].
• ITCS Accounts Office will be closed noon Dec. 24-8 a.m. Jan. 2; limited assistance will be available via e-mail from December 26-29. Messages should be sent to [email protected].
• The Campus Computing Sites: Angell Hall Computing Site will be closed from 11:30 p.m. Dec. 21-7:30 a.m. Jan. 2. The School of Education Building will be closed from 5 p.m. Dec. 21-7:30 a.m. Jan. 2. Holiday hours for other Campus Computing Sites can be found at www.umich.edu/~sites/hours.
• U-M Computer Showcase (Michigan Union) closed from 3 p.m. Dec. 24-9 a.m. Jan. 2.
• ITCom Customer Service Center closed from noon Dec. 24-8 a.m. Jan. 2. Emergency voice, data or video repair requests during that period should be reported to 647-8888. Select emergency option, then select voice, video or data and an operator will take the necessary information and dispatch field technicians as appropriate. For non-emergency voice, data or video repair requests: call 647-8888. Select the non-emergency option, then select voice, video, or data and leave a message as instructed. These requests will be handled beginning Jan. 2.

Michigan Union
Holiday building hours are 7 a.m.-11 p.m. Dec. 21-22, closed Dec. 23, 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 24, closed Dec. 25, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. ground floor only Dec. 26-29 and Dec. 31, closed Dec. 30 and Jan. 1, 7 a.m.-11 p.m. Jan. 2 and 7 a.m.-2 a.m. Jan. 3.
Dec. 14 is the deadline for units to submit requests to University Mail Services (UMS), for USPS mail delivery or metering needs during University season days, December 26-31. Submit requests via e-mail or in writing. Also, let University Mail Services know if pickup and delivery service will not be required on Dec. 24. For units that do not contact University Mail Services, mail will be delivered as scheduled. Standard permit mail to be processed and mailed before the holiday break must be at University Mail Services by 5 p.m. Dec. 20. Mail must be at University Mail Services by 10 a.m. Dec. 24 to be postmarked before Dec. 25. The USPS will be open Dec. 26-31, but will not provide service to University buildings unless advance written requests are received at UMS which will be closed on season days. Michigan Administrative Information Services (MAIS)
Most MAIS business offices, including the MAIS Help Desk, will close at 3 p.m. Dec. 24. Regular office hours resume at 8 a.m. Jan. 2. All MAIS systems are available during normal hours of operation, which are shown on the Web at www.mais.umich.edu/systeminfo/hours.html. To report a suspected system outage or to request a password reset during this period, call 936-7000.
IT Security Services (ITSS)
The ITCS office will close at 5 p.m. Dec. 22. Regular office hours resume at 8 a.m. Jan. 2. ITSS will be on call for emergencies throughout the break.
The University Payroll Office
The Payroll Office will be open 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Dec. 24 and closed Dec. 25-Jan 1. The monthly payroll for December will be distributed Dec. 21, the same day as the last biweekly payroll for December.
Museums
The Exhibit Museum of Natural History
The museum will be closed Dec. 24-26, 31 and Jan. 1.
UMMA/Off Site (Museum of Art)
The museum will be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, and open the rest of the holidays at regular hours.
U-M Health System
Employee Health Service is closed Dec. 25-Jan. 2. For a work-related injury or illness, report to the emergency room. For a body substance exposure, page 936-6266, ext. 5356. Faculty/staff should not go to the emergency room for a tuberculosis skin test or immunizations.
University Hospital retail food service modified holiday hours are:
• CVC Coffee Kiosk: Dec. 21, 6:30 a.m.-2 p.m., Dec. 24-Jan. 1 closed; normal operations resume Jan. 2.
• Einstein Bagels: No change in hours; 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
• Fresh n Healthy Café: Closed Dec. 24-Jan. 1; normal operations resume Jan. 2.
• Nicks Café: Closed Dec. 24-Jan. 1; normal operations resume Jan. 2.
• Cancer Center Coffee Kiosk: Closed Dec. 24-Jan. 1; normal operations resume Jan. 2.

Procurement Services
• OfficeMax Product Delivery will be closed Dec. 25-Jan. 1. For emergency UPS deliveries of products, contact OfficeMax customer service at (800) 817-8136, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
• Procurement is closed Dec. 25-Jan. 1. During that period, purchase orders will be available online as usual through the M-Pathways system or purchases can be made with a P-Card. For emergency assistance, call 647-4147 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Normal business hours resume Jan. 2.
• Mail Services is closed Dec. 25-Jan. 1.
• Copy Centers at Printing Services, North Ingalls Building and Legal Research are closed Dec. 25-Jan. 1.
• Printing Services is closed Dec. 25-Jan. 1.
• Fulfillment and Storage is closed Dec. 25 through Jan. 1.
Transportation
• All regular campus bus and UMHS shuttle service will end Dec. 21 at the end of the regular service day. There is no U-M bus or shuttle service on the official University holidays Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Reduced service, via the Northwood service only, will be provided Dec. 24 and Dec. 26-31. A special Fuller/Mitchell Express shuttle will use large buses, for greater passenger capacity, to provide service between Lot M75 and the Medical Center on Dec. 24, Dec. 26-28 and Dec. 31, between 6:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. It will not serve Wall Street stops or NIB. Service will return to its regular schedule Jan. 2. Go to www.pts.umich.edu for more details.
• The Ann Arbor Transportation Authority (AATA) will not operate regular fixed-route bus service, A-Ride, or senior shared-ride services on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Fixed-route bus service will operate on its regular schedule on Dec. 24 and Dec. 31 until 6:45 p.m., with the following exceptions: From Dec. 24-Jan. 1, there will be no service on Routes 1U, 9U, 12UL or Route 4 trips leaving the Blake Transit Center at 3 and 33 past the hour or the Ypsilanti Transit Center at 15 and 45 past the hour. Route 4 trips, which run only between Arborland and University Hospital, also will not operate. Route 36 service from Wolverine Tower will be reduced to service every 30 minutes at 15 and 45 past the hour. Full fixed-route bus service will resume Jan. 2, with the exception of Route 33, which will resume Jan. 7. Go to www.theride.org for more details.
Parking enforcement will be suspended for permits and meter fees in all U-M parking areas except the Simpson Circle Structure (Mott), North Entrance Structure (Cancer Center) and CVC structure from 5 p.m. Dec. 21 through 6 a.m. Jan. 2. This policy does not extend to City of Ann Arbor parking areas. Orange Lots M75 and NC78 will be available with shuttle service provided from M75 to the Medical Center Dec. 24, 26-28 and Dec. 31. No U-M bus service will be provided on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Since there is no evening or weekend shuttle service, Medical Center afternoon and midnight shift staff with yellow or orange permits who cannot be accommodated by the special Fuller/Mitchell shuttle service will be allowed to park at the Taubman Structure (Parking A) during the holiday break (Dec. 24-Jan.1). Enter through Lanes 9 or 10 and exit through Lanes 12 or 13. To minimize the impact on patient parking, staff should park in the south annex.
Patient and visitor parking at the Taubman Parking Structure (Parking A), Cancer Center Parking Structure (Parking B) and CVC Parking Structure (Parking C) will continue normal operations throughout the holiday season, except Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 when parking will be free. Patient and visitor parking at the Fletcher and Palmer structures will be closed throughout the holiday, Dec. 23 through Jan. 1.
The Service Station at Baxter Road will remain in service throughout the Holiday/Season Day period. The Kipke site will be accessible only during periods when Garage Services is open as outlined below, as the gates for lot SC10 will be closed during non-operational hours.
Fleet Services will close at 5 p.m. Dec. 21 and reopen at 6:30 a.m. Jan. 2. Vehicles to be rented over this period will need to be picked up prior to closing Dec. 21. The Fleet Services office telephone, 764-3427, will be forwarded to an informational voice recording. The garage will close at 12:30 a.m. Dec. 22 and reopen at 7 a.m. Dec. 26. The garage will be open with minimal staffing for vehicle-related emergencies from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Dec. 26- 28 and 31. The Garage Services phone, 764-2490, will be answered during these hours of service. For vehicle emergencies at times when the garage is closed, contact the Department of Public Safety at 763-1131. Calls will be returned by a garage supervisor.
Safety
• Remind staff, faculty and student colleagues before they leave work, research or living areas for the holidays to close and lock all windows and doors, secure valuables, lock desks and closets, and double-check that all chemicals are properly capped and research operations properly secured while unattended.
• Building facility managers: E-mail building hours to DPS at [email protected] so DPS staff members are informed and can respond appropriately to incidents that may occur.
Conserve utility consumption
• Call BAS to schedule fan systems off in offices, classrooms and other areas that will not be used over the holiday break.
• Turn off all unused office equipment such as computers, monitors, printers, fans, coffee pots and task lighting. Also unplug chargers for cell phones and PDAs.
• Close fume hoods and where available switch them to “low” or “unoccupied.”
