Trainers Greg Thompson, a volunteer, and Nikki Haukap, the floor manager for Lose the Training Wheels, exhort rider Robert Bayer to pedal faster during the School of Kinesiology Bike Camp research project. Researchers in the federally funded project, which is run by Dale Ulrich, professor in Kinesiology, will follow youth with autism and Down syndrome for three years to measure the impact of bike riding on health, social skills and a host of other outcomes.
