Alumni Association announces $50M campaign as part of Victors for Michigan

The U-M Alumni Association will launch a five-year, $50 million campaign as part of the university’s Victors For Michigan campaign.

The Alumni Association, representing more than 535,000 alumni in 180 countries around the world, will kick off its campaign with the Michigan Alumni Experience from 3-5 p.m. Friday at the Alumni Center.

This week’s Summit on Diversity in Graduate Education drew more than 150 scholars and practitioners from across the country, seeking a better understanding of diversity’s role in the academic and social contexts of graduate school, and working to identify ways to effectively enhance and maintain diversity.

The public phase of the university’s Victors for Michigan campaign opens Friday as the university community and the public are invited to a communitywide festival from 5-7:30 p.m. on Ingalls Mall, followed by a celebratory Main Event in Hill Auditorium at 8 p.m.

Veterans Week 2013 celebrations range from solemn to athletic

The university’s celebration of Veterans Week 2013 will stretch across 10 days and multiple venues and platforms — from solemn ceremonies and expert panels, to wheelchair basketball champions, including Paralympic medalists, on the court at Crisler Center.

Coleman to speak at MSU fall commencement ceremony

President Mary Sue Coleman will be one of three speakers at Michigan State University’s commencement ceremonies in December.

Coleman will speak at the advanced-degree ceremony, which will be at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 13 at the Jack Breslin Student Events Center. She will receive an honorary Doctor of Laws degree.
