ITS announces approval for project to install WiFi on the Diag

Information and Technology Services has received funding approval to install WiFi in portions of the Diag.

In September 2017, Central Student Government President Anushka Sarkar and CSG Vice President Nadine Jawad announced an initiative outlined as part of their platform to install WiFi on the Central Campus Diag.

Amy Wang named director of procurement services

Amy Wang has been selected as the university's new director of procurement services. Wang's appointment will be effective Aug. 7.

In the position, Wang will manage several critical universitywide functions, including purchasing, travel and expense, strategic sourcing, print/copy/mail, and property disposition.

Canvas Crew offering one-on-one support to faculty this summer

Preparing to use Canvas in the classroom just got a little easier for faculty.

The U-M Canvas Crew is providing in-person, one-on-one support to faculty. The Canvas Crew consists of students and staff from the College of Engineering, Information and Technology Services, LSA and University Libraries.

In the last few weeks, as U-M faculty and students returned to campus with laptops, smartphones, tablets and other electronic gear, the demand on the MWireless network has continued to soar.

The number of devices connecting to MWireless has more than doubled in the past year.

Consider these staggering facts: Between January 2013 and 2014, the number of Wi-Fi connections per day reached 2.5 million — triple the numbers reached in previous years on the U-M Ann Arbor campus (excluding UMHS). Also during this period, the number of devices doubled and peaked at 99, 624.

Eduroam streamlines Wi-Fi access for traveling academics, students

U-M faculty, students, researchers and staff can now easily connect to Wi-Fi while visiting other academic institutions worldwide.

A new wireless service known as eduroam allows users from participating institutions to access a secure, encrypted wireless network using their home organization's login credentials.

Lesson Builder offers new way for faculty to use CTools

The ITS CTools Team has introduced a new way for faculty to build, manage and use course sites. The feature, called Lesson Builder, provides sequencing capabilities that allow instructors to create sites with easy-to-follow navigation and instructions for students.
