Enrollment and freshman applications hit record at U-M Ann Arbor

Enrollment at the Ann Arbor campus has set an all-time record for the fifth consecutive year, with 43,710 students in fall 2013, a 0.7 percent increase from the previous year. Undergraduate enrollment grew by 1.1 percent, and the number of graduate/professional students fell by 0.1 percent. Freshman applications were up 10 percent, to a record 46,813.

Campus community can register electronics during Techno Tuesdays

Students, faculty and staff can register their laptops and other electronics in person with the U-M Police on Techno Tuesdays in October. The first such event is today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.at Haven Hall. Other Techno Tuesdays will be Oct. 22 and 29.

Civil liberties lawyer Marjorie Heins to deliver academic freedom lecture

Marjorie Heins, founding director of the Free Expression Policy Project, which provides research and advocacy on free speech, copyright, and media democracy issues, will deliver the University Senate’s 23rd Annual Davis, Markert, Nickerson Lecture on Academic and Intellectual Freedom on Oct. 23.
