Social work professor brings classroom to Mexican border

For Sherrie Kossoudji, bringing her students to the Mexican border was the teaching opportunity of a lifetime. Kossoudji, an associate professor of social work at the School of Social Work, has worked over the years to provide her students with an opportunity to travel to the United States-Mexico border.

Old School: President Harold T. Shapiro's birthday

Harold T. Shapiro, U-M's 10th president, was born on June 8, 1935, in Montreal. During his presidency, which ran from 1980-87, the "theme of quality over quantity, of 'smaller but better' became the guiding principle" in a period of budget reductions.

U-M unveils tuition guarantee for Michigan students with need

U-M will launch a new financial aid program for in-state students that offers a "Go Blue Guarantee" of free tuition for up to four years for students with a family income of up to $65,000. It was unveiled as part of the fiscal year 2018 budget.
