W-2 statements available in January electronically or by mail

Topics:

Form W-2 Wage and Tax Statements for 2015 will be available in January 2016 by one of two delivery methods.

An electronic version, available Jan. 8, will provide employees with early access to information. On that day employees should receive an email on how to receive the form electronically in Wolverine Access, then they can print the form at that time or at a later date.

Alternatively, hardcopy W-2s are scheduled to be mailed in late January.

The university also will mail every individual who was eligible for health benefits in 2015 the new Form 1095 tax document in January 2016. Form 1095 reports information about health care coverage as required by the Affordable Care Act. Recipients should retain this tax form with other tax documents needed to file their federal taxes.

The university will mail Form 1095 to current addresses no later than Jan. 31. U-M Form 1095s for 2015 are not available online. More information is available at hr.umich.edu/form-1095

To ensure prompt delivery of tax forms by the U.S. Postal Service, employees should make sure their current home address is correct in university records. They can update their current home address via the Web. Go to Wolverine Access > Employee Self-Service > Campus Personal Information > Addresses.

Address updates also may be made using the “Address/Personal Data Form” available on the Human Resources website.

Address updates should be complete by Jan. 3.
