University to host TSA PreCheck enrollment event next month

Topics:

The university’s Procurement Services Department is bringing the Transportation Security Administration’s PreCheck program to campus Nov. 16-20 for a special enrollment event.

“The TSA PreCheck program offers enrollees expedited screening via a special lane where they may not have to remove shoes, belts, light jackets, laptops from cases, and compliant liquids from carry-on luggage. The TSA, a department within the federal government’s Department of Homeland Security, is responsible for protection of the nation’s transportation systems,” said Carolynn Blankenship, an audit and compliance supervisor in Procurement Services.

Details for the TSA PreCheck enrollment event:

• Dates: Nov. 16-20

• Location: Michigan League, Room C

• Cost: $85 per person, which covers five years of enrollment. Employees may pay by credit card, money order, or certified check. Eligible American Express cardholders may receive credit for the application fee. Please note that this is a personal expense and not reimbursable by the university.

• Walk-ins will be accommodated as time permits, but the advance sign-up process must be followed.

Each appointment typically takes about 10 minutes.

“We’re bringing the TSA PreCheck Program on campus as a convenience for employees. This eliminates the need to go elsewhere to enroll in the program, but we expect there to be considerable interest in the event and strongly encourage employees to sign up early for an appointment,” Blankenship said.
