Stephen M. Ross School of Business senior Praveen Loganathan is a true entrepreneur and educator at heart.

A first-generation American college student, Loganathan and his family immigrated to the United States from Sri Lanka when he was 4 years old.

Once the Canton, Michigan, resident arrived at the University of Michigan years later, he worked to make the most out of his Michigan experience.

Loganathan partnered with one of his dorm mates to create their own business called InFusion Technologies. They created a device that allowed homes with solar panels to run on hydrogen technology instead of a more costly battery.

Loganathan said Innovate Blue helped connect them to different entrepreneurship centers, and various U-M units contributed funding.

They eventually received the Center for Entrepreneurship’s Undergraduate Entrepreneur of the Year award.

Nowadays, Loganathan gives back as a peer entrepreneurship adviser for Innovate Blue.

Loganathan also has dedicated his time at U-M to education. He helped design several applied liberal arts classes, such as a course taught by upperclassmen for first-year students on making the most out of attending Michigan, as well as classes dedicated to critical issues in education, Detroit, sustainability and health.

He also created a student group called Change Agents, which works to use business to make a positive difference in society.

After graduating with his Bachelor of Business Administration, he plans to serve in the Peace Corps in Botswana, designing programs based off his strengths and the needs of his host community.

Eventually, Loganathan said he would like to one day create his own school. He might even reconnect with his friends after Peace Corps to see how they can be a mini think tank to change the world.

“Whether it’s creating a think tank or whether it’s creating a school, I really want to address entrepreneurship education in the future.”
