Practitioners from about 40 community practices in Washtenaw and Livingston counties will become Premier Care tier one providers.

CHE Trinity Health employees will be covered at their highest benefit level when seeing UMHS providers for services that are not available in the CHE Trinity Health system in Michigan.

Over time, the university expects to add more tier one providers in Michigan to Premier Care. Rich Holcomb, senior director for benefits, said both organizations are interested in the quality and cost of care available to their employees, and the agreement will help ensure greater access.

Those already enrolled in U-M Premier Care won’t need to change anything to use the expanded network in 2015. Employees and retirees enrolled in a different U-M health plan can choose to switch to U-M Premier Care during U-M’s upcoming Open Enrollment period, Oct. 27 – Nov. 7, 2014, for coverage that will begin with the new year.

Before changing plans, employees should always confirm that their provider of choice is included. Premier Care participating providers and hospitals can be found at bcbsm.eproviderdirectory.com.
