Erich Geiger named director of residential dining operations

Erich Geiger has been named director of residential dining operations, with overall responsibility for student dining and residential services in university-owned housing facilities.

“Geiger brings with him a significant track record of achievement in driving strategic growth and operations throughout a diverse career,” says Steven Mangan, director of Michigan Dining.

“His interest and experience in sustainability and environmental practices, while managing special needs or allergies and educating students on wellness and nutrition to support healthy lifestyles, also supports the mission of the university and MDining.”

Prior to joining U-M, Geiger was district manager for Northwestern University’s dining program, where he was recognized for ensuring operational excellence, managing risk with food and physical safety, training and developing staff, and creating a culture of innovation that embraces positive change.

He also led involvement with hunger issues, workforce development, and work with social service non-profits. Before his work at Northwestern, Geiger was resident district manager at the University of Tennessee.

    Mr. Geiger’s family is very proud of his most recent appointment as Director of residential operations at Michigan University. We know he will provide excellent service to the school residents with his expertise, passion and shining personality.
