UM-Dearborn saving energy, labor costs with LED lighting

Jerry Van Couwenberghe and Kevin Headrick like to joke that the next time many of the LED light bulbs they’re now installing at UM-Dearborn will need changing, somebody else will have to do it — the veteran facilities workers expect they’ll be retired 10-15 years from now.


Pitches for 2018 Hacks With Friends accepted through Friday

Information technology professionals across campus are encouraged to participate in Hacks With Friends, an IT competition planned for March 1-2. Pitches will be accepted through Friday and must relate to one of six pre-selected themes that provide an array of possibilities where IT could make an impact.


Students, visiting artist collaborate on humanities sculpture

Students across campus will work with visiting artist Chico MacMurtrie this semester on a 40-foot robotic sculpture that explores the notion of borders and boundary conditions. The project, led by the Institute for the Humanities, symbolizes the humanities in action.

This video explores the ideas behind the Border Crossers project, a sculpture collaboration between U-M students and visiting artist Chico MacMurtrie.
